As the new year ‘2019’ gets underway, Gmusicplus highlights 6 gospel artists to keep on your radar.

Compiled editorially by Gmusicplus, the list features a combination of already-known and emerging gospel recording artists who made a mark in 2018 with exceptional music releases which is still blessing lives. It includes artists from USA, Ghana, Uk and Nigeria.

MARANDA CURTIS

Maranda Curtis is a praise/worship leader, and a gospel recording artist based in the U.S. Born and raised in Miami, FL to Reverend W.S. Curtis and Mrs. Darlene Curtis, the fourth of seven children, Maranda quickly found singing to be a source of comfort. She has had the opportunity to share the stage with such gospel artists as Pastor John P. Kee, Kurt Carr, Youthful Praise & more.

In 2017, She the release of her debut EP, “The Maranda Experience Vol. 1 ” which hit number one on Billboard’s Gospel Charts in August of that year.  The concert album, Open Heaven: The Maranda Experience Live, which dropped in April 2018 also debuted at #1 on the Billboard Gospel charts, and has amassed more than 13 million streams overall.

Later, in November 16, 2018 – Curtis released her first holiday project: Maranda Presents a Holy Christmas, an extraordinary collection produced by Grammy nominee and close collaborator Dana Sorey, and featuring guests that include Benita Jones, Amante Lacey, Dr. Kevin Bond and more.

Maranda Curtis is definitely one artiste to look out for as she continues to soar as a leading voice in the gospel music industry. She has shown no signs of relaxing as her signature sound has been featured on various music projects as a lead vocalist. She is a true worshiper who believes “Worship is not a matter of skill; it’s a lifestyle!”

KORYN HAWTHRONE

Koryn Mattanah Hawthorne is an American contemporary Christian music and gospel singer. She was a finalist in season 8 of NBC’s singing competition The Voice, at the age of 17. After placing fourth on the show, Hawthorne got signed to RCA Inspiration, a division of Sony Music dedicated to gospel music recordings.

Her debut studio album, Unstoppable, released on July 13, 2018, has earned her multiple awards nominations, including a Grammy nomination for her #1 hit single “Won’t He Do It”. The title track “Unstoppable” expresses Koryn’s relentless pursuit of God’s plan in her life. “I feel like God gave me a specific purpose and so no matter what, nobody is going to stop me from doing that. I’m going to fulfill the purpose He has for my life. With God being unstoppable, that makes me unstoppable.” she said.

The official music video for Koryn’s acclaimed single “Won’t He Do It”  garnered over 10 Million YouTube views in 5 months.

Samuel ‘CalledOut Music’ Nwachukwu is a music producer, singer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist who grew up in Nigeria and moved to the UK with his family at the age of 12.

The singer who has been making music since the age of 7 emerged into the Gospel scene in 2016 with his debut single, “Working on me” and ever since has successfully released songs featuring music greats like “TY Bello”, “Danny Duncan”,  Gil Joe, Becca Folkes, and the 2011 Mobo Award winner Triple O.

Calledoutmusic has released a truckload of songs over the past 2 years (I Will Serve, Working on Me, You’re Mine, I Am Free, My Prayer, Love Around). His music has also received over 1Million views on Spotify and 3.5Million views on YouTube with HFP Music as a distributor.

His single “My Prayer” stood out as the first song to receive over 1Million views.

Calledoutmusic continues to take over the gospel music scene as his track “You’re Mine” debuted as Best Song at the Premier Gospel Awards 2018.  He also received nominations for “Best Male” and “Best Song” at Tru Life Gospel Awards; and “UK Artist of the Year” at Gospel Touch Music Awards 2018.

Calledoutmusic is one artist who sees no room for impossibilities. He showcases his versatility as he steps into yet another niche with his latest single “Love Around” which has a contemporary African sound and was produced by Whiteblock Group. The song brought about the “Love Around Challenge” which had all his fans all over the world singing in different languages.

CalledOutMusic has performed in quite a number of places asides the UK. He has traveled to Europe, Africa, Canada and Amsterdam where his first headline show held at the ‘Theatre Paris Story’ in France.
