Pastor Poju Oyemade, Senior Pastor and Founder of The Covenant Nation, has announced the dates and theme for the 2027 edition of the World Faith Believers’ Convention, popularly known as WOFBEC.

The annual Christian gathering will run from January 2 to 10, 2027, at The Covenant Place in Iganmu, Lagos. Organisers will also stream the event live on YouTube, giving people outside Lagos and beyond Nigeria an opportunity to participate.

The announcement has generated interest among Christians looking forward to the convention’s teaching sessions, worship and spiritual activities. In a dedicated video shared on social media, Oyemade personally invited believers to attend the gathering. He also highlighted the programme’s international reach and outlined what participants can expect from the nine day event.

The theme for WOFBEC 2027 is “The Holy Spirit, The River of Life.” It places the Holy Spirit at the centre of the convention’s teaching and spiritual focus. Through this theme, the gathering will explore the work of the Holy Spirit and the importance of spiritual growth in the life of a believer.

In his announcement, Pastor Poju Oyemade described WOFBEC as an opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in God’s Word and experience spiritual renewal. He also revealed plans for more than 50 sessions, with seasoned ministers expected to teach and minister throughout the programme. According to the pastor, the gathering aims to leave participants changed and transformed through the message of faith.

The 2027 convention will bring together ministers from different countries, reflecting WOFBEC’s growth into an international Christian gathering. Oyemade identified Russia, Great Britain, the United States, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda among the countries from which ministers will travel to participate. Their presence will give attendees access to a range of teaching and ministry experiences shaped by different backgrounds and perspectives within the Christian faith.

With more than 50 sessions planned, the convention will offer an extended period of teaching, worship and spiritual engagement. Its central theme, “The Holy Spirit, The River of Life,” will guide the programme’s emphasis on the person and work of the Holy Spirit. For participants, the gathering will provide an opportunity to study Scripture, strengthen their understanding of the Christian faith and reflect on their spiritual walk.

WOFBEC has developed a significant place within Nigeria’s Christian conference calendar. The event was originally known as the West Africa Faith Believers’ Convention, or WAFBEC, before adopting the name World Faith Believers’ Convention as its reach expanded beyond the region. Pastor Oyemade convenes the annual gathering through The Covenant Nation, with a focus on teaching, worship, intercession and the transmission of foundational Christian beliefs to younger generations.

The convention first took place in January 2013. However, Oyemade has traced the vision behind the gathering to around 1991, when the idea began to take shape as the Believers Bible Convention, also known as BBC. That early vision grew from a campus fellowship Bible convention and developed into a wider initiative aimed at strengthening believers through sound biblical teaching.

The gathering also reflects an effort to revisit and reinforce the foundational truths associated with Nigeria’s charismatic Christian movement during the late 1970s and early 1980s. As the years passed, the convention grew beyond its original regional focus. Its expansion eventually led to the adoption of the World Faith Believers’ Convention name, reflecting its broader international outlook.

Beyond its size and international participation, WOFBEC places emphasis on spiritual development and the passing of faith from one generation to the next. Its programme brings together teaching, prayer, worship and ministry, while encouraging participants to deepen their understanding of Scripture. These priorities have helped shape the convention’s identity and its role within the wider Christian community.

The decision to stream WOFBEC 2027 live on YouTube will also make the programme accessible to viewers who cannot attend in person. Although the main gathering will take place at The Covenant Place in Iganmu, Lagos, online access will allow people in other cities and countries to follow the sessions. This option may prove especially valuable for international participants and believers who want to take part from home.

Oyemade has urged interested participants to mark their calendars for the January gathering. With its nine day schedule, international ministers and more than 50 planned sessions, WOFBEC 2027 is set to provide an extended programme of biblical teaching and worship under the theme “The Holy Spirit, The River of Life.”

As preparations continue, the convention will build on a history that began with a vision for deeper biblical understanding and has since grown into a gathering with a global outlook. For The Covenant Nation and its convener, the 2027 edition will continue that mission by bringing believers together to learn, worship and strengthen their faith.
