Afrobeats/Afrofusion is rapidly gaining wide acceptance and becoming a global wave. The music genre is a West African music style with American funk, jazz, and soul influences.

In the gospel music scene, we have artists, who over the years, have tapped into the exciting Afrobeats wave, creating a unique genre, AfroGospel (Afrobeats + Gospel).  Worthy of note, these artists have helped shine the light of Christ and pass the message of salvation through this genre which has captivated the heart of millions.

Today, we at Gmusicplus have decided to highlight five (5) Afro-gospel artists you should be listening to right now.

Limoblaze

A talented singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer, Limoblaze is a multi-award-winner whose style of music fuses Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, and Gospel in a unique way. The self-acclaimed “God’s Favorite Baby” is one act that has constantly proven he’s unashamed of his faith and walks with Jesus, evident in his music.

His single, “Jireh” (My Provider) featuring Grammy Award-winning rapper, Lecrae and UK’s Happi, is one of the biggest AfroGospel songs right now. The song has sparked lots of trends on social media including Tik Tok, Instagram, and Others. It also debuted at #48 on Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Chart, dated Sept 3, 2022.

With other hits like Good God (feat. Ada Ehi), Your Love, Desire, Blow My Mind, to mention a few Limoblaze has shown to be an artist that embraces versatility.


Prinx Emmanuel

Prinx Emmanuel is a talented singer-songwriter, producer, recording artist, and multi-instrumentalist, who is fast becoming a favorite in the AfroGospel scene. He’s well known for his amazing use of Pidgin English to deliver breathtaking melodies and high-energy performances.

The Spotlight shone on Prinx earlier this year after his TikTok refix of the viral “Kumama Papa” (original by Grace Lokwa). The song blew up the popular video-sharing SM platform as users began to use it to make viral videos sharing their growth over the years. His other hits include God No Go Shame Us Kpeme, Amarachi, and Others.


Greatman Takit

Another worthy addition to this list is Greatman Takit!

His High “Energy” single which dropped earlier this year, sparked trends on social media platforms. The song also made its way into Inter Milan football club dressing room which finds some of the players vibing it in a viral video.

Greatman Takit is an unconventional Christian rapper, singer, songwriter, and former member of the multiple award-winning music group “The gratitude”. He is a gospel artist that is passionate about encouraging Christians to stand up as the light and voice of God to cause a positive change. His songs like Energy, Bulie, Peteru, and My Daddy will give you all the hype and excitement needed to light up your spirit.


Gaise Baba

Of course, this list will never be complete without mentioning Gaise Baba! For the past decade, the singer has been repping the Afrobeat genre in the industry with several acclaimed singles and achievements.

Gaises is a recording and performing artiste who doubles as a culture architect and entrepreneur, set out to engage and influence popular culture with kingdom values. . The Afrogospel sensation is making quite a splash with his single “Elijah Level,” off of his sophomore full-length album “A Decade After,” which dropped earlier this year to great acclaim. His songs are relatable and also street-penetrating.


Marizu

Marizu is a gospel singer, songwriter, and recording artist who is grounded in the wealth of music. His style of music fuses sounds from Afrobeats, Afro-Caribbean, RnB, and Soul.

With his uniquely identifiable voice, Marizu has been able to infiltrate the gospel music scene giving us all that is needed back to back.  His popular songs like Looku Looku, and Wonder, chosen amongst others, is evidence that gospel songs do not have to be conservative to worship God or acknowledge the works of God.
