VGMA 2020: Diana Hamilton, Celestine Donkor Emerge Winners

Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for the year 2020, has finally taken place after doubts about the event holding this year due to the effects of COVID-19. The award ceremony held on the 28th & 29th of August and was divided into three sections, with some key notable segments experienced annually excluded due to the peculiarity of several health factors that were considered. Streamed live to audiences, this year’s edition saw prominent Ghanaian gospel artistes bag awards in major categories.

Gospel songstress, Celestine Donkor defied the odds as she also emerges “Female Vocalist of the Year” from a category that had household Ghanaian female singers across different genre’s including; Efya, Becca, Efe Grace, Adina, and Lamisi. The mother of three also bagged the “Gospel Song of the Year” Award for her inspiring single “Agbeblolo,” featuring Nhyiraba Gideon.

Multi-octave and gifted artiste Diana Hamilton was named “Gospel Artiste of the Year” 2020 as she bags the VGMA Award in that category for the second consecutive time. The celebrated songstress emerged top from the nomination list which included other household names like; Joe Mettle, MogMusic, Joyce Blessing, Akesse Brempong, and Celestine Donkor.

Nana Yaw Boakye popularly know as MOG wasn’t left out as he also bagged a major award as VGMA’s “Male Vocalist of the Year” 2020.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA formerly Ghana Music Awards) was established in 2000 and it is dedicated to celebrating the efforts and creativity of hardworking Ghanaian Artists.
