Tasha Cobbs Leonard Announces ‘TASHA UNSCRIPTED’ Live Album for September 11

Three time GRAMMY® winner and Billboard’s Gospel Artist of the Decade Tasha Cobbs Leonard has officially announced her new live album, TASHA UNSCRIPTED, set for release on September 11 through Motown Gospel and Capitol Christian Music Group.

The highly anticipated project is now available for pre order. Recorded live in Atlanta earlier this year, the album captures Cobbs Leonard in an atmosphere of worship, spontaneity, and musical freedom.

Alongside the announcement, Cobbs Leonard has released “Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free (Live),” featuring Israel Houghton. The song also arrives with an official live video that captures the emotion and energy of the performance.

The sweeping worship moment moves from surrender to freedom. It brings two beloved songs together while highlighting the powerful vocals and spontaneous ministry that define Cobbs Leonard’s live recordings.

TASHA UNSCRIPTED takes listeners back to the live setting that has shaped many defining moments in Cobbs Leonard’s career. Instead of simply repeating familiar songs, the project gives each one room to breathe through fresh arrangements, audience responses, and unexpected moments.

The Atlanta recording brought together several celebrated names in gospel and Christian music. Guests include Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard Kelly, William Murphy, Israel Houghton, and several other respected artists.

As a result, the album offers more than a collection of live performances. It presents an intimate picture of Cobbs Leonard at her most natural, allowing worship, faith, music, and the energy of the room to shape each moment.

Speaking about the project, Cobbs Leonard explained the heart behind the recording.

“After stepping into a quieter, more intimate creative space with TASHA, I felt called back to the room, to the kind of night where you cannot predict what God will do next,” says Cobbs Leonard. “TASHA Unscripted captures what happened when we made space for the songs to breathe and for people to respond in real time. There was so much freedom in that room, and I’m excited for everyone to finally experience it, both on the album and on tour.”

The project follows Cobbs Leonard’s critically acclaimed 2025 studio album, TASHA. That record marked her first studio album after more than a decade of landmark live projects.

TASHA made an immediate impact after debuting at number one on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums, Current Gospel Album, and Top Christian/Gospel Album charts. The album also explored gospel, R&B, hip hop, pop, and roots influences.

One of its biggest moments came through “Church,” featuring John Legend. The song reached number one on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart and later earned GRAMMY recognition.

Cobbs Leonard and John Legend also performed the collaboration on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, giving gospel music another major national television platform. She also delivered a standout performance during the GRAMMY Premiere Ceremony.

This fall, Cobbs Leonard will take the energy of TASHA UNSCRIPTED on the road with the TASHA UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR. The tour will build on the spontaneity of the Atlanta recording and offer audiences a more intimate live experience.

Each night will draw from Cobbs Leonard’s celebrated catalog while making room for new music, personal stories, and spontaneous worship moments. The experience will also respond to the energy of each audience, meaning no two nights are expected to unfold in exactly the same way.

Some tour stops will also feature Club 360 wellness experiences. These additions reflect Cobbs Leonard’s wider commitment to spiritual and physical well being beyond the stage.

The tour currently includes Charlotte, Brunswick, Atlanta, Washington, New York, Boston, Dallas, and Raleigh. Additional cities and dates are expected to be announced.

The album announcement comes during another major awards season for Cobbs Leonard. On August 15, she is scheduled to receive the Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards in Charlotte.

The honour recognises her remarkable career and influence as one of the leading cultural voices in contemporary gospel music. She also enters the ceremony with six Stellar Award nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Albertina Walker Female Artist of the Year.

Cobbs Leonard also recently earned three nominations for the 2026 GMA Dove Awards. Her nominations include Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year, Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year, and Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.

The latest recognition adds to an already impressive awards run. Cobbs Leonard has received two 2026 GRAMMY nominations for TASHA and “Church,” three BET Award nominations, and her first NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album.

With TASHA UNSCRIPTED, Cobbs Leonard returns to the live worship environment that helped establish her as one of gospel music’s most influential voices. Rather than simply documenting the Atlanta night, the album invites listeners into the room and gives them an opportunity to experience its atmosphere.

The extensive tracklist features several major gospel collaborations and revisits some of Cobbs Leonard’s most recognised songs. The project also introduces new moments that reflect the freedom and unpredictability of the live recording.

The album opens with “Break Every Chain (Live),” featuring William Murphy, followed by “Power In The Blood / Jesus, I’ll Never Forget (Live),” also featuring Murphy. Other early highlights include “I’m Getting Ready / Let’s Go (Live)” and “I’m Getting Ready (Reprise / Live),” featuring Pastor Mike Todd.

Cobbs Leonard also joins Enrique Holmes for “Happy / Without You (Live)” and “Happy (Reprise) / You’ve Been So Faithful (Live).” “Gracefully Broken/Who The Son Sets Free (Live)” features Israel Houghton, while “The Grace Talk (Live)” continues the live worship experience.

Mickey Guyton appears on “The Church I Grew Up In (Live),” while Bishop Paul S. Morton joins “Church Hymns (feat. Bishop Paul S. Morton) [Live].” The project also features “Jesus Is The Only Way / Good Good Good (Live)” with Bishop S. Y. Younger.

Bishop S. Y. Younger returns for “Never Lost My Praise / Running For My Life (Live).” Other featured moments include “God Responds (Live),” “For Your Glory (Live)” with Jonathan McReynolds, and “Confidence (Live)” with Lisa Knowles Smith.

“An Unscripted Moment (Live)” features Travis Greene, while “In The Room (Live)” features Melvin Crispell III. The project also includes “In The Room (feat. Pastor Tim Rogers) [Reprise / Live],” “Smile (Live)” with Jonathan Nelson, and “What A God (Live)” with Jonathan Nelson.

Le’Andria Johnson joins Cobbs Leonard for “You Know My Name (Live)” and its reprise. Kierra Sheard appears on “Fill Me Up (Live)” and “Kierra’s Prayer (Live),” while Dante Bowe features on “This Is A Move (Live).”

Karen Clark Sheard joins Cobbs Leonard for “Put A Praise On It / Hallelujah (Live)” and “Jesus In The Morning (Live).” The album closes with “Final Say (Live),” bringing the extensive live worship journey to a powerful conclusion.
