“TASHA UNSCRIPTED” — Tasha Cobbs Leonard Releases 34-Track Live Album

Three time GRAMMY Award winner, 16 time Stellar Award winner and Billboard’s Gospel Artist of the Decade, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, has officially released her expansive new live album, TASHA UNSCRIPTED.

The highly anticipated 34 track collection arrives today through Motown Gospel and Capitol Christian Music Group. It marks another major chapter in Cobbs Leonard’s celebrated career and brings her back to the live worship setting that has shaped much of her musical journey.

Recorded before a live audience in Atlanta, TASHA UNSCRIPTED revisits more than a decade of music while creating room for fresh arrangements, new collaborations and spontaneous worship. The project does not simply revisit familiar songs. Instead, it allows them to grow through the energy of a live audience and the unique contributions of each guest.

The album reflects Cobbs Leonard’s desire to create music that feels open, communal and unpredictable. She originally developed the project with what she describes as a “mic toss” spirit. That approach created space for a wide community of artists, friends and collaborators to join her and bring their own voices to songs that have already touched countless lives.

Across the collection, Cobbs Leonard shares the spotlight with an impressive list of gospel, Christian and mainstream artists. The guest lineup includes Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard, Israel Houghton, William Murphy, Le’Andria Johnson, Travis Greene, Dante Bowe, Melvin Crispell III, Lisa Knowles Smith, Jonathan Nelson and more.

The result is an album that moves between powerful worship, energetic praise and intimate moments of reflection. Each collaboration adds a different texture to the project while keeping the focus on the songs and the live experience.

Taking to Instagram to disclose her album release, Tasha Cobbs Leonard Penned;

“IT’S HERE! UNSCRIPTED (Live) is officially OUT NOW! 🙌🏾

What happened in that room was more than we could have planned. Every song, every voice, every moment became a part of something only God could orchestrate.

Now it’s yours.

I pray you don’t just listen to this album. I pray you experience it.

UNSCRIPTED. AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE NOW.”

Tasha Cobbs Leonard is also taking that same spirit beyond the album through her UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR. The tour begins tonight in Charlotte, North Carolina, with the opening show already sold out.

From there, the multi city tour will continue through Brunswick, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Dallas and Raleigh. The current tour schedule runs through September 26 and aims to bring the atmosphere of TASHA UNSCRIPTED directly to audiences in intimate venues.

Rather than repeat the same set in exactly the same way every night, UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS embraces the freedom that defines the album. The concept gives Cobbs Leonard and her guests room to respond to each audience and allow each evening to develop naturally.

That philosophy sits at the centre of TASHA UNSCRIPTED. After releasing TASHA in 2025, her first studio album following more than a decade of major live projects, Cobbs Leonard felt drawn once again to the communal environment that has played such an important role in her artistry.

“There’s a freedom that happens when you stop trying to control every moment and just make room for what’s supposed to happen,” says Cobbs Leonard. “That’s what this album became for me. These are songs people have lived with for years, but we were able to come back to them with new life, new voices and a room full of people who helped take them somewhere we couldn’t have planned.”

That sense of freedom can be heard throughout the album. Songs that audiences already know receive fresh arrangements and new energy, while collaborations introduce unexpected combinations that expand the emotional reach of the original recordings.

William Murphy joins Cobbs Leonard on “Break Every Chain,” bringing his commanding worship style to one of her most recognised songs. Jonathan McReynolds also joins her on “For Your Glory,” giving the familiar worship anthem another memorable interpretation.

Mickey Guyton appears on “The Church I Grew Up In,” while Kierra Sheard joins Cobbs Leonard on “Fill Me Up.” Karen Clark Sheard also lends her powerful voice to “Put A Praise On It / Hallelujah,” adding another major moment to an already impressive collection.

One of the album’s most emotional performances comes through “You Know My Name (Live),” featuring Le’Andria Johnson. The song arrived as a preview of the full project last week and quickly drew attention for its deeply emotional live presentation.

The accompanying performance captures Johnson becoming overwhelmed during the worship moment. As she continues singing, she eventually sits on the stage while Cobbs Leonard remains beside her. The audience then rises to its feet, creating a powerful scene that reflects the spontaneous nature of the entire TASHA UNSCRIPTED experience.

That moment also reinforces one of the album’s strongest themes. Cobbs Leonard does not appear interested in simply recreating past successes. Instead, she creates space for familiar songs to become new experiences through live worship, fresh voices and genuine emotion.

The release comes during an important season in Cobbs Leonard’s career. She recently received the prestigious Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards in recognition of her extraordinary career and lasting contribution to gospel music.

During the national BET broadcast, the celebration included a career spanning video package that highlighted major moments from her journey. A special tribute medley followed, with each performance drawn from Cobbs Leonard’s extensive catalogue.

Melvin Crispell III performed “For Your Glory,” while Maranda Curtis delivered “Fill Me Up.” Bishop William Murphy performed “Break Every Chain,” and Kierra Sheard took on “Put A Praise On It.”

The four artists later joined together for an electrifying praise break before Cobbs Leonard took the stage for an emotional acceptance speech. The tribute served as another reminder of the influence her music has had on artists, worshippers and gospel audiences.

The momentum continues with Cobbs Leonard’s upcoming appearance at the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards. She has been announced among the first group of performers for the major Christian and Gospel music event.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 6 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The broadcast will air on October 9 through TBN and the TBN+ app. Cobbs Leonard enters the ceremony with three nominations and an already impressive record of 15 Dove Awards.

The TASHA UNSCRIPTED era also extends beyond music. At select stops on the UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR, Cobbs Leonard will introduce Club 360, her fitness and wellness community.

The initiative adds another side to her public platform. It connects movement and physical wellness with the music, faith and sense of community that have remained central to her work.

For Cobbs Leonard, the connection makes sense. Her music has consistently encouraged people to pursue God with passion while embracing the realities of everyday life. Club 360 allows her to extend that message into another area by encouraging people to care for their bodies and overall wellbeing.

With TASHA UNSCRIPTED, she now brings together several parts of her creative and personal journey. The album celebrates her musical catalogue, welcomes a wide range of collaborators and creates space for worship moments that cannot always be planned.

The project also reflects how much Cobbs Leonard’s music has grown over the years. Her catalogue has become part of the worship language for a generation of listeners. Yet, through TASHA UNSCRIPTED, those familiar songs receive new life without losing the heart that made them meaningful in the first place.

Named Billboard’s Gospel Artist of the Decade, Cobbs Leonard has built one of the most influential careers in contemporary gospel music. She has accumulated more than 5 billion career streams while earning three GRAMMY Awards, 16 Stellar Awards, 15 Dove Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and an NAACP Image Award.

Her 2025 album TASHA also debuted at number one across multiple Billboard gospel charts. The project earned two 2026 GRAMMY nominations and produced the number one Gospel Airplay collaboration “Church” featuring John Legend.

Now, TASHA UNSCRIPTED adds another significant release to that legacy. With 34 tracks, a remarkable group of collaborators and a clear focus on spontaneous worship, the album gives listeners a chance to experience Cobbs Leonard’s music from a fresh perspective.

As the album arrives and the UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR begins, Cobbs Leonard is continuing to build around the idea that some of the most meaningful moments cannot be planned. TASHA UNSCRIPTED embraces those moments and allows the music, the artists and the audience to discover where the worship leads.

For longtime listeners, the project offers a fresh encounter with songs they already know and love. For new listeners, it provides an expansive introduction to one of gospel music’s most celebrated voices.

Ultimately, TASHA UNSCRIPTED is about more than revisiting a catalogue. It is about creating room for new voices, unexpected moments and genuine worship. With Cobbs Leonard at the centre, the album captures the freedom of live music while celebrating the enduring power of songs that continue to connect with audiences around the world.
