Grammy-Award winning rapper and Christian Hip Hop Artist, Lecare, has opened up on the events that led to his collaboration with John Legend on his new single “Drown“. The track has sparked many reviews in recent weeks.
While sharing his thoughts via a video on his YouTube page, the president and co-founder of the independent record label Reach Records, revealed that a friend of his happens to be a part of John Legend management team, whom he met through some mutual friends. “I kinda wrote some stuff to her and it landed on John’s lap.” He said
According to him, John Legend fell in love with the song and idea and thereafter the linked up at an event where further details were discussed. He also explained that even when the song was done John still wanted to make some notable adjustments to it, acknowledging the Academy Award winner for his professionalism and patience.
In the 5mins+ long video below, Lecrae further explained the significance of some of the lyrics used in the song, revealing the important message it teaches. “Drown,” is the third single off his upcoming 9th studio album, Restoration, which is due for release on August 21 via Reach Records.
